This mural is the result of the Union Station Foundation Tile Mural Project. There are several more spaces in the hallway ready to receive more tile murals.
There is no date or signature on the mural so I asked around the area and was told the mural was painted by Ogden High School students about five years ago as a way to jump start the mural project. I was told the media was sepia paint on glazed tile. The mural was painted on the tile after the tiles were set and then sealed onto the tile. Since there however, no further murals have been painted.
The mural measures 7 feet by 9 feet and depicts a street scene on Ogden's Historic 25th Street. Its funny that Ogden celebrates this area because in the late 1800's Ogden was considered the murder capital of the world. I asked if the mural was a reproduction of a photograph and was told that the mural is a compilation of many photographs.
I think I will inquire about placing a mural here myself.
