Before the castle stood here, a Slavic settlement was on the same site in the 9th century. Tetín Castle was founded around 1288 by Wenceslas II.
From 1321 it was owned by Štepán from Tetín, nephew Premyslids's bastard Provost Jan Volk. From this family bought the castle Charles IV. and a dominion was attached to the nearby castle Karlstejn.
The Tetin castle was burned by the Hussites in 1422, then it no longer don't try to repair Tetín castle.
The ruins Tetín was in the early 20th century severely damaged by the quarry, which destroyed the entire core of the castle. Now you can find only the rest of the bottom of castle, the rest of the palace walls the, moats and wall.
This place is the rocky promontory above the river Berounka, providing a spectacular view of the surroundings, the river Berounka and the nature reserve Tetínské rocks.
