The following information about William Randolph Byrd is from his obituary in the St. Augustine Record dated Friday, October 23, 1963:
"He was a native and life-long resident of Hastings and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hastings. He was a former member of the St. Johns County Board of Commissioners, was Justice of the Peace for the Hastings District for 12 years, and was active in farming and land clearing, and leveling. He also had other business interests."
