The stand of conifers behind the seat protect sitters from the wind. When all the trees are in leaf there will be little to view apart from the tarn. The main bridleway along the valley runs the other side of the trees behind.
Miss Temple was only 16 when she died. She was "an active member of Drigg Young Farmers Club."
