This castle, is at 650m high and shows how the village grew up from it. It's construction is not very well defined in time, but most probably was during the reign of D. Sancho I. During the 16th century, King D. Dinis ordered it's reconstruction.
Its tower was part of the defensive complex of Castelo Novo. When it's defensive use was no longer needed, it started to be used as Bell Tower, with the same bells that, in medieval times, used to give the alert to the population that was working on the fields nearby
