In a marked departure from the usual style of Thai provincial bus station, the Prachinburi bus station is one corner of an open style building, one which is undergoing renovation. In this corner there is a line of ticket counters, and a small waiting area, food, drink and facilities. The remainder of the building is open and undergoing construction work. A few tuk tuks and motor bike drivers are also present.
I do not know if this is a temporary station, an expanding station, or something else. The building is not new, and resembles an abandoned, covered market area. If this entire area were to be converted into a bus station, it would be large indeed. Larger than the province would warrant.
The station is small, situated near the centre of the town, dealing with traffic to and from Bangkok, to the small towns and villages within the province, plus the occasional bus to a neighbouring province. Prachinburi (known locally as 'Prac' or 'Pracin') is 80 or so kilometres east of Bangkok, with a population of maybe 50,000 people.
The waymark was made at the ticket counter.
