Text from the Plaque
Bird Drug Company
Druggist Sydney Bird established this business in 1910 and leased out the second floor as a dentist`s office and a residential suite. The building`s classic storefront design consists of a recessed entrance and a “prism” transom windows designed to direct sunlight into the interior. A multitude of retractable canopies once shielded the storefront and second floor windows from the direct afternoon sun. The building is distinguished by its superior brickwork, the metal cornice and distinctive decorative finials, and by the large “ghost” signs on the east and west walls.
