The theater is the main theater on campus. The theater is located in the back of the main section of the campus and is run by the Theater Arts Department. The theater's facade is a mixture of concrete and wood. Smithwick College is reservable.
The campus opened in the 1957. The college is a twin to De Anza College in Cupertino. Both are part of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. The theater is named after Robert C Smithwick, the founding boarding member of the Foothill College district.
In 1987, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the college, the theater was renovated with the help of the Packard Foundation.
