The Minnesota Monument also known as Taps was placed by the State of Minnesota to honor its soldiers who died in the Civil War and are buried in the cemetery. The memorial dedicated September 22, 1916 features a sculpture of a Union soldier with his head bowed. He is holding a rifle with it barrel pointing down, he is holding his cap against his heart. The bronze statue stands on a Minnesota granite base inscribed:
