The Ada Thompson Memorial Home was built in 1909. The Greek Revival style building was designed by architects Frank Gibb and Theodore Sanders. The construction was funded by estate of Ada Thompson Crutchfield. The purpose of the building was to provide a permanent and comfortable home for aging women who through their works earlier in life deserved a comfortable place to live once they had outlived their close relatives. The home was closed in 1976 however the trust provided for the care of the residence at another home until the last died in 1991.
