The bell was cast in Maryland, and hung in the old town hall from 1897 to 1951. Saved from being scrapped by the concern of three local citizens, it was presented to the town of Blenheim, Ontario, by Messrs. Art Pegg, Del McMillan, and Albert Pegg. The Rotary Club, as a centennial project, undertook to erect a suitable cairn for its permanent placement.
The cairn design and construction is by Henry Pokornik. The bell was dedicated December 17, 1967.
