A new Missouri River Bridge Pedestrian and Bicycle attachment
was opened to the public on April 8,2011.The attachment is
8 feet wide and includes two lookout points with a view of
the Missouri State Capitol from high above the Missouri River.
The distance from deck of the bike path to the water is about
125 feet depending on the amount of water flowing that day.

It is placed on the down river side of Eastbound US Highway 50
and Northbound US 63 Missouri River dual bridges at Jefferson
City.

Later in the spring it will be named in honor of Pat Jones,
who has been instrumental in the creation of the KATY Trail
State Park for hikers and cyclists. The park trail
is on the old roadbed of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas
Railroad's former route across Missouri.

The new bridge will form a connecting link between Jefferson
City's greenway system and the Katy Trail State Park North
Jefferson trailhead. This also includes the Carl Noren
Conservation Access(see Waymark WMGHJT) and the Lewis and
Clark Trailhead Plaza (see Waymark WM4FNF)on the Missouri
State Capitol grounds.
