The marker is a roughly 5-inch diameter metal disc set at the center of population of the state according to the 2000 census. It is labeled "Arkansas 2000 Census Population Center" and bears logos of the US Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District, the Arkansas Society of Professional Surveyors, and the National Geodetic Survey.
To reach the mark from Conway, travel west on Highway 60 to Toad Suck Park and the bridge across the Arkansas River. Once across the river, take the first road to your right at the gas station and turn right onto Park road to enter Toad Suck Park. Stay left at the first few places the road splits until you reach the parking lot at the edge of the river, just south of the bridge. The marker can be found in a large concrete pad in the shape of the state of Arkansas at the southeast corner of the parking lot. Two wooden benches, painted brown, are present to the northwest and southwest of the marker. These are plainly visible as you approach the area.
The marker is in a suitable location for satellite observations, and the large concrete "Arkansas" the marker is placed in can be seen in the arial view on Google maps.
