This bust statue is a tribute from the Municipality of Oeiras to the maestro César Batalha. The statue was inaugurated in July 7th, 2000.
In 1960 he founded the Coro de Santo Amaro de Oeiras (Choir). Since 1976 the Children's Choir was formed in Santo Amaro de Oeiras who recorded songs like "Eu vi um sapo" and "A todos um bom Natal"."
He directed the choir of the Banco de Portugal between 1976 and 2007. For the song "Eu vi um sapo", he won the 1st prize for composition in Zecchino d'Oro. He is the author of the Hymn of Oeiras, which had its first hearing in 1991.
