The text below the orientation table reads:

Wind River Mountains
Bridger National Forest

You are looking into the Wind River Mountain range, so named by Indians and translated into English. These mountains are still in the ice age. The seven largest glaciers in the Rocky Mountains are here. Numerous smaller glaciers also remain.

This side of the mountains comprises the Bridger Wilderness. These 383,300 acres can be traversed only by foot or by horseback. The renewable resources of these National Forest lands are managed in the combination that best meets the needs of the American people. The Wind River Mountain Country provides some of the best fishing in the United States. There is also good hunting for elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep and bear.

Six major lakes just outside of the Wilderness are being developed by the Forest Service to provide picnic and camp sites. Tourist accomodations are available in the Pinedale area. Additional information on this area may be obtained from the Chamber of Commerce or the Forest Ranger in Pinedale.

Location / Access:
This orientation table is on the same hilltop as a large roadside marker for the Green River Upper Rendezvous site. It is just south and east of the junction of US Highway 191 and Wyoming Highway 352. This junction is 4.9 miles east of the junction of US Highways 189 and 191 or 6.0 miles west of Tyler Avenue in downtown Pinedale. As you turn south off of US 191 begin watching for a gap in the log rail fence on your right, flanked by a small wooden marker sign. Turn off the road onto a rutted dirt track; follow this track until you reach the top of the hill. Don't veer off onto any of the many extraneous trails that have been created by off-road travelers.
