Located at the far end of the main Bangkok skytrain route (at the Mo Chit station), and on the Chatuchak MRT (underground) station is the Chatuchak weekend markets. These markets are large, consisting of many (1000s?) of small stalls under awnings and metal roofs, which have a very wide range of goods for sale. A place to bargain and make a bargain, but also very hot, and is it worth the time and trouble to save a few dollars on a t-shirt?
Near the centre of these markets is a four faced tower clock. Surprisingly, the clock was not operational when I visited, however, on earlier visits it was in working order—here is hoping. The clock is on a high tower, maybe 15m high, constructed with light, brown stone. The base of the tower has inscriptions in Chinese and Thai, but on my Sunday visit there were so many people and stalls around the tower that I could not take a photo.
* the markets are also famed as a pickpocket haven. Hold on tight to your camera and gps.
