This bridleway runs parallel to the river Esk crossing several streams using this typical footbridge for walkers to cross Birker Beck. Wheeled traffic will have to ford the stream.

One school of thought has this as a thoroughfare of Roman origin. The track is well established and very popular as a valley walk between the road bridges. Three natural stone steps raise the deck of the footbridge above the flood level of the beck.
