At 10 W. Main in downtown Shawnee is the Ritz Theater. The building was constructed in 1897 and later that year, a theater originally named The Cozy opened, The name was changed to The Ritz in 1926. This was the home of vaudeville shows, and was the location of the first talking movie shown in Shawnee. It operated until 1987. In 1997, the owners donated the theater to the City. It is being restored and used for occasional local and regional entertainment, and is part of the Save America's Theaters project.

KIRC Real Country 105.9 FM broadcasts out of a building in town, located at 2 East Main.

At City Hall at 9th and Broadway, a Bicentennial Time Capsule was buried to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the United States. It will be opened on January 1, 2076.
