Guthrie, Oklahoma was established on April 22, 1889 during the Land Run. By nightfall, thousands of people had staked a claim here. Businesses sprung up overnight, and the town became Oklahoma's first State Capital. The City of Guthrie is packed with historic buildings, many of them built before 1900. The town has done a great job in documenting its history. Historical markers have been erected at most every site.
