The cross is described on the appropriately named 'Waymarker Northamptonshire' website: visit link

'On Brixworth's old market area are the remains of the village butter-cross. Dating from the 14th century, only the base and part of the shaft survives. Nearby is a replica of traditional village stocks.'

There is some Aubretia growing on the cross, taking advantage of the manmade rockery environment provided!

The cross is Grade II Listed from 2nd November 1954.
