This was originally the site of a large cotton mill, and thus was an industrial site.
However apart from the old chimney, the mill has been demolished and the area turned into a country park.
The area is near to the River Irwell, and this was used as source to take water to drive the original water powered machinery. There is therefore various, streams, canals, and ponds around which form the basis for attractive walks. They have also provided facilities for fishing and canoeing.
There is a nearby touring caravan site. There are also 3 sculptures in the area that form part of the Irwell sculpture trail, the longest and largest sculpture trail in the U.K.
It is located on the edge of the town of Bury.
