This is a 2nd generation Scycamore (although we in England and most of the rest of the world call them Plane Trees) grown from seeds that came from a ‘Moon Tree’ in Cannelton, Illinois - (
visit link) thanks to Joan Goble. The seeds were germinated by a fellow villager at the world renowned Rothamsted Research establishment in nearby Harpenden. I also planted one in the village school grounds but unfortunately the school did not look after the tree and it died. I still have some of the seeds left and may have another go at planting one in the school grounds during World Space Week 2011 (4th October - 10th Oct) - see www.worldspaceweek.org.
