San Mateo, like its neighbor Belmont, is ideally suited for commuter access to the industries of Silicon Valley and the South Bay or the busy metropolis of San Francisco. There are many major employers in the immediate area plus easy access to CalTrain, the San Francisco Peninsula commuter rail system. Major freeways also provide easy access to distant places but at times the traffic can be horrendous. And San Mateo means the San Mateo Bridge, convenient for travel to the East Bay.
