This is arguably the best surreal episode of the Avengers. Slowly, board members of a property company are being murdered. The murderers are a pair of clowns, beautifully played by Jimmie Jewel and Julian Chagrin. At first the motive appears to be a government contract for an underground government bunker awarded to the company. Eventually the clowns slip up and leave a clown’s nose at the scene of the crime. Tara manages to track down and follow the clowns back to Vauda Villas, a rest home for retired artistes. The real motive for the murders is that the property company owns Vauda Villas and the clowns have been convinced by a rogue board member that the company wants to demolish their home.
In the clips Tara follows the clowns in a cab back to Vauda Villas and is kidnapped by the clowns at the gates. Steed later follows Tara to the home. The actual location for the home is Long Meadow, Welham Green.
