In Portugal, the Baptists have been present since the nineteenth century, when British missionaries and expatriates founded the church in the country. They are grouped in the Portuguese Association of Baptist Churches (19 churches); Portuguese Baptist Convention (90 churches) Baptist Churches of Carreiro (13 churches); Independent Baptist Churches (Baptist-Pentecostal group of Brazilian origin, seven churches) and other congregations and churches.
This is the Third Baptist Church of Lisbon, and was formed in 1 July 1956.
