Abraham Miller came to Maryland from Bavaria. At the start of the Revolutionary War, he joined the war as a recruit in a German Regiment serving commanded by Ly Col Weltner. He is known to have participated in battles at Stony Point, Brandywine, Germantown, Trenton, Monmouth, at the siege of Yorktown, and with Washington's army at Valley Forge.

After the Revolutionary War, he settled in Pennsylvania where the remained until 1813. In 1813 he and his family moved to Ohio where they settled on land that became part of Stark County. In 1824 Abraham Miller passed on and was buried in St, Joseph's Cemetery where this marker is located.
