The 4th Ohio Cavalry monument depicts a Cavalryman on hourseback charging, his left hand holds the reins. He holds his sword in his right hand which is raised above his head. There are two bronze plaques in the top corners of the monument. The left one is the Ohio state seal, the right hand one is the symbol for the 4th Calvary. A plaque on the rear of the monument description the actions of the 4th during the Chickamauga campaign.

The 4th Cavalry was organized by Col. John Kennett, Its first commander in 1861, for three years. Commanded at Chickamauga by Lieut. Col. Oliver P. Robie; participated in all the fighting of Col. Eli Long's Brigade of Crooks Division, at the Chickamauga Fords and above Crawfish Springs, south and east of this point. Loss, killed 4: wounded 9: captured or missing 21: total 34.

4th Ohio Cavalry
The 4th Ohio Cavalry was a cavalry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The regiment was also known as the "Union Dragoons" and "Cincinnati Union Dragoons".
Service
The 4th Ohio Cavalry was organized at Cincinnati, Lima, and Camp Dennison near Cincinnati from August to November 1861, and mustered in for a three years under the command of Colonel John Kennett.
The regiment was attached to 3rd Division, Army of the Ohio, to October 1862. 2nd Brigade, Cavalry Division, Army of the Ohio, to November 1862. 2nd Brigade, Cavalry Division, Army of the Cumberland, to January 1863. 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Army of the Cumberland, to March 1863. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Division, Army of the Cumberland, to October 1864. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, Cavalry Corps, Military Division Mississippi, to August 1865.
The 4th Ohio Cavalry mustered out of service on July 15, 1865.
