5th Wisconsin Battery monument is a cylindrical granite block with wheels on each side, a curved bronze scroll placed over the top describes the part the battery played in the battle of Chickamauga. On the back of the monument is a bronze medallion of the State of Wisconsin seal. The monument has a three-tiered rough-edge base.

5th Wisconsin Battery
1st brigade, 1st Division, 20th Corps.
This battery, Capt. George Q. Gardner commanding, attached to Post’s Brigade was detailed to cover the withdrawal of the trains from Stevens’ Gap to Crawfish Springs and thence to Chattanooga. Upon reaching the foot of Lookout Mountain it met an attack which was repulsed by the free use of canister. It was one of the last commands to cross Chickamauga Creek.
