The new building of the Slovak National Theatre was designed by Slovak architects Martin Kusý, Pavol Panák and Peter Bauer whose project was selected out of fifty three entries. The building has seven floors, over 2000 rooms and three main auditoriums (Opera and Ballet Hall, Drama Hall, Studio). In addition it has a restaurant that seats 120, a club, a café, a reading café and a kitchen.
Several artworks are located in the interior and exterior spaces of the SND New Building, among them a fountain by Alexander Bilkovic, Ilja Skocek and Peter Bauer in front of the building. The front foyer features Spring by Pavel Bauer and the painter Dušan Buril; Cascade by Peter Roller and Two Towers by the architect Peter Bauer are in front of the building. Apart from the artworks, which are an integral part of the premises, theatre costumes and exhibitions are on display in the corridors of the building.
The theatre building opened on 14 April 2007 in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gasparovic.
Program:
Three opera performances a week are usual - currently by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini and Christoph Willibald Gluck.

Novú budovu SND navrhli architekti Martin Kusý, Pavol Panák a Peter Bauer, ktorých architektonický návrh zvítazil v konkurencii pätdesiatich troch projektov. Budova má sedem podlaží, vyše dvetisíc miestností a tri hlavné sály (Sála opery a baletu, Sála cinohry, Štúdio). V novej budove SND je tiež reštaurácia pre 120 osôb, klub, espreso, libreso a kuchyna.
Noblesu budovy Slovenského národného divadla podporuje aj niekolko exteriérových, ako aj interiérových umeleckých diel. Pred novostavbou je fontána autorov Alexandra Bilkovica, Ilju Skoceka a Pavla Bauera. Vo vstupnej hale je umiestnený pramen architekta Bauera a maliara Dušana Burila, pred budovou je kaskáda Petra Rollera a dve veže architekta Bauera. Okrem umeleckých diel, ktoré sú súcastou budovy, budú v priestoroch divadla rozmiestnené divadelné kostýmy a aj výstavy.
Budova bola otvorená 14. apríla 2007 o 19:00 prestrihnutím pásky pred centrálnou castou novej budovy SND.

Obvykle sa hraju tri operne predstavenia tyzdenne, v sucasnosti ide o diela autorov Piotr Iljic Cajkovskij, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini a Christoph Willibald Gluck.
