The 1st Ohio Infantry Monument is located at the NW corner of Winfrey’s Field on Brotherton Rd., Chickamauga National Battlefield.
Description:
A granite marker with a relief of a uniformed Civil War soldier affixing a bayonet to his rifle. The soldier holds the rifle barrel with his left hand and attaches the bayonet with his proper right hand. The stock of the rifle rests by the soldier's right foot. The soldier wears a cap and has a pouch attached to the right side of his waist. On the front lower right side of the marker is a bronze medallion with the State of Ohio seal. Below it is a relief of a star. The granite marker has a rounded top and the edges are roughly carved.

This regiment, Lt. Col. Bassett Langdon commanding, on 19 Sept. 1863, at 12:00 M. it advanced with its regiment from the Kelly place to this position. It participated in the fighting during the advance, and also in the resistance to the attack made from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. by Cleburne's and part of Cheatham’s Divisions.
Sept. 20th it occupied a position east of the Kelly Field, from daylight till ordered to retire to Rossville in the evening. The division was temporarily attached to the fourth Army Corps.
