Die Stadt Ferlach in der CARNICA-Region Rosental hat als Industriestandort und Erzeugungsstätte hochqualitativer Jagdwaffen über Jahrhunderte Weltruf erlangt. Eine erste Handwerksordnung für die "Büchsenschlosser" stammt aus dem Jahre 1631. Das Stadtbild wird bis heute von den Büchsenmachern geprägt. Ferlach ist Standort der weltweit einzigen Ingenieurschule für Waffentechnik, Werkzeug und Vorrichtungsbau.

Die Jagd ist ein schier unerschöpfliches Thema. Das Büchsenmacher- und Jagdmuseum spannt einen breiten Bogen von der Veränderung der Jagdarten, über Innovationen der Büchsenmacher, zur Jagd in Malerei, Literatur und Musik bis zu den Einflüssen der Jagd auf die Sprache des Alltags und auf Grundlagen unserer Gesellschaft. Herausragende Highlights sind 32.000 Jahre alte Schnitzerein aus Mammutelfenbein, eine lebende Büchsenmacherwerkstatt, wo man eine Waffe entstehen sieht und über die künstlerische Arbeit des Graveurs staunen kann.

Das Ferlacher Schloss und sein Nebengebäude wurden im Zuge der Kärntner Landesausstellung "alles jagd ... eine kulturgeschichte" im Jahre 1997 durch den bekannten Ausstellungsarchitekten, Mag. Josef Klingbacher, durch behutsame aber wirkungsvolle Eingriffe zu einem hochwertigen Ausstellungsgelände. Die Verbindung von alter und neuer Bausubstanz bildet keine spektakulären Signale, schafft aber Ausstellungs- und Repräsentationsräume von hoher Intensität.

Ferlach hosts the world's only engineering school for weapons technology, tools and fixtures.

The gunsmithing and hunting museum covers a broad arc of the change in hunting methods, innovations, the gunsmith, hunting in painting, literature and music to the influences of hunting on the language of everyday life and on the basis of our society. Outstanding highlights are 32,000 years old mammoth ivory carvings, a living gunsmith shop, where does arise a weapon and can marvel at the artistic work of the engraver.

through the ages
Ferlacher the castle and its outbuildings were in the course of the Carinthian exhibition "all game ... a cultural history" in 1997 by the famous architectural exhibition, Josef Kling Bacher, by gentle but effective interventions to a high quality exhibition center. The combination of old and new buildings is not spectacular signals, but provides exhibition and reception rooms of high intensity.
