The name of the pub, the City Vaults, is obviously inspired by the fact it used to be a bank.

Unlike other banks similarly converted into pubs, this one is very popular and has remained opened. There are a couple of others nearby that are currently closed and unused.

The pub sign shows bank vaults piled high with gold, but if they were as badly guarded as the sign indicates it’s no surprise the bank went out of business.

This is a grade II listed building and was a branch of Lloyds bank.

The web document listed in the variables describes all buildings in a conservation area. To find details of this building search for '33 Hustlergate'.
