In Memory Of The
Fairbanks Area Veterans
The memorial was expanded in 2001 through the efforts of many individual citizens, civic and veterans organizations, and businesses from Fairbanks and around Alaska. The expansion of memorial was designed by Pananen and constructed by the Alaska Laborers' Apprenticeship and Training Program. It is inscribed:
Interior Alaska
Veterans
Memorial
In Memory Of:
All of our men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces; those who perished; our veterans who suffered the ravages and wounds of war; American Prisoners of War; and those who still remain missing in action.
You have the enduring respect and recognition of this community and all of Interior Alaska. We will never forget those still missing in action or the sacrifices made by veterans and the many hardships endured by military families and friends.
Dedicated to the quest for peace.
Residents of Interior Alaska have a long lasting, time tested relationship with neighboring Army, Air Force, National Guard personnel and their families. Alaska ranks number one in the Nation in the number of veterans percapita. The military's significant contriution to the Interior's communities and its role in helping buidling and grow the State of Alaska is recognized and appreciated by all.
