The first paragraph of the sign reads:
"Migrations
California's diverse habitats shelter a changing assortment of species throughout the year. Seasonal fluctuations in day-length, temperature, and rainfall alter the resources in an area and prompt the cyclic migrations of animals. In the winter, California's mild coast offers refuge from the cold. The rain soaks forest floors and fills rivers faciliataing the movement of amphibians and marine animals. THe warmth and vegetative growth of spring provide breeding habitat while higher elevations give relief from the heat of valleys and deserts during summer. These various migratory routes take animals to different lattitudes, elevations, and bodies of water. Over the course of their journeys, they often travel tremendous distances to complete their life cycles and begin those of their offspring."
