Frick Park is one of the "green gems" of Pittsburgh. Created in 1925 with the donation of property by the Frick family, property that was adjacent to his mansion, it then expanded a few years later with additional property near the area of Beechwood Blvd.

The environmental center is a non-profit organization used for the promotion of outdoor use of the park for educational and social purposes.
