Thomas Chirnside a wealthy pastoralist completed his Italianate mansion in the 1870's.
Upon his death the property was sold to the catholic church.
Upon the completion of a new wing in 1926. The property was used as a training ground for priests until the 1970's.
Upon lying derelict for over 30 years, the Italianate Mansion was transferred in the year 2000 into a modern boutique hotel.
