Caldwell Oregon Short Line Railroad Depot - Caldwell, Idaho - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

The Oregon Short Line reached Caldwell in September 1883 and constructed the first building in town, which served as the city center for a tent city. In 1889 the citizens of Caldwell petitioned the railroad for a new larger depot and in 1906 the railroad constructed this large brick Romanesque railroad depot. Passenger service ended in the 1980s and the depot closed.The city of Caldwell purchased the building and obtained a 99-year lease on the land under it in 1989 from the railroad. In 1995 the building was placed on the National Register. Restoration of the Depot began in 2002 and in 2008 the Train Depot Interpretative Center opened.
