The Soldiers Monument stands atop Memorial Hill in historic Blandford Cemetery. The Memorial is topped with a white bronze statue of a Confederate Soldier who is facing north. The Monument is inscribed with the words "Gloria Victis," bears the seal of Virginia and the name of the Confederate casualties who died on June 9, 1864 beginning the siege of Petersburg. The memorial was erected by the Petersburg Ladies Memorial Association and dedicated in June 9, 1890.
