The marker is on a wonderful-looking building, housing Rebecca's Cafe. The marker reads:
"On this site stood the residence of Jean Lefebvre DeCheverus, first Roman Catholic Bishop of Boston, beloved by Protestant and Catholic alike. Born in France 1768, made Bishop 1808, recalled to France in 1823, later made Cardinal Archbishop of Bordeaux where he died in 1836.
'His thoughts were as a pyramid upheld on whose far top an angel stood and smiled yet in his heart he was a child.'"

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
