In early 2009, artist Rich Bailey carved this Thunderbird eagle from the main trunk of a maple tree on Portage Road NW of the Welland Canal.
The initial work was done with a chainsaw after which the details were carved with a chisel and the carving then painted. The wings are carved from two trunks of this former tree.
