Wasilla is the location of the restart of the Iditarod dog sled race. The race is started in Anchorage and is run to Eagle River. The mushers and dogs are then trucked to Wasilla. From Wasilla the race continues to Nome. The Iditarod Headquarters is located just outside of Wasilla.
