This wall sculpture is in a small landscaped area near what used to be the Pachyderm area. The area just south of the sculpture now houses the rhinocerous, and is near the entrance to a large building housing the rhinos, hippos, sloth, and many species of birds.
In this same small area are several dedicated benches, two historical markers, and a wonderful elephant sculpture titled "Ganesia".
The sculpture depicts a side view of an elephant, with trunk raised. Behind the elephant silhouette is an array of vegetation/landscaping. The elephant is mostly outlined in brick. To the right of the elephant is a brick wall that has geographical areas raised, using plaster. A small plaque is on the upper right corner of the wall, and an additional plaque to the right of the wall.
Text on plaque:
This sculptured wall is dedicated to the memory of "Judy the Elephant," who was purchased through the generosity of area school children in 1949. She was a resident of the zoo until her death at the age of 52 on October 8, 1997.
