Near the square in Ricany you can find the ruins of the castle which has survived a part of the palace walls and the rest of the tower wall, which is located between two houses.
Ricany builder of the castle was probably of Ondrej Všechrom, founder of the Lords of Rican.
Ricany Castle is one of the most significant developments in Czech castle architecture of the last Premyslovcu.
Approximately oval-shaped castle stood on a broad promontory. It was protected by small cliff, a massive wall with a height of two storeys, three sides of an ingenious system of ponds and built against the city with a deep moat walls.
Most of the castles of this type and age is now preserved only in plan, most of its tower. Ricany is complete except as it preserved most of the front yard and a lateral wall of the main palace, and it almost at full height.
Nedaleko namesti v Ricanech je mozne nalezt zriceninu hradu ze ktereho se dochovala cast palacove steny a zbytek zdi veze, ktera se nachazi mezi dvema domy.
Stavebnikem ricanskeho hradu byl pravdepodobne Ondrej ze Vsechrom, zakladatel rodu panu z Rican.
Ricansky hrad patri mezi nejvyznamnejsi stavby ceske hradni architektury doby poslednich Premyslovcu.
Hrad priblizne ovalneho tvaru stal na sirokem ostrohu. Byl chranen nevysokym srazem, mohutnou hradbou o vysce dvou podlazi, ze tri stran dumyslne vybudovanou soustavou rybniku a proti mestu hlubokym prikopem s valy.
Vetsina hradu tohoto typu a stari je dnes zachovana jen v pudorysu, nanejvys s torzem veze. Ricany jsou uplnou vyjimkou, protoze se dochovalo skoro cele dvorni pruceli a jedna pricna zed hlavniho palace, a to prakticky v plne vysce.
