Located at the entrance to the San Diego Zoo's Elephant Odyssey area, this is one of two identical works on either side of the Horton's Way walkway.
The sculpture depicts a stylized Elephant standing upright and wearing a loincloth...and the dates "1000-1500 years ago" below it. The sculpture is one of five in a dated sequence..and the art seems to depict elephants as more primitive and abstract as the dates go back in time.
It is set on a pedestal which depicts the end of another tusk in its center.
