These two white chairs on the covered patio of the Philbrook Museum of Art are shaped like Gryffins. The tall back of the chairs is the outspread wings, the front of the chairs is the face and beak of two Gryffins (one on each side), and each side of the chair shows the side of the creature's body, including the legs. Seating on the chairs is a large round surface, with the birds' wings partially enclosing you on the sides. The material appears to be carved concrete.
To access these wonderful examples of artistic seating, enter the museum at the main entrance, turn right to the displays, then left into the patio area that leads to the fountain/waterfall/gardens. Sitting in these chairs on the museum's patio give you an outstanding view of the gardens below.
The Philbrook Museum of Art is closed on Mondays, as well as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. General admission is $9 for those over 18, with numerous discounts and special free days offered to the public.
