This is the fourth county courthouse since Wood County was organized in 1820. The first two were located in Perrysburg. The county seat moved to Bowling Green in 1866. The first courthouse in Bowling Green was built in 1868. It burned down in the mid 1870s, and a replacement was built on the same site beginning in 1894. This is the current courthouse.
