Douro Line is the line of road, rail and most beautiful tourist in Portugal.
The Douro Line is a line of railway, railways in Portugal, the Iberian gauge (1.67 m), connecting Ermesinde to Barca d'Alva, a distance of approximately 200 kilometers. The line, in much of the route follows the banks of the Douro River, containing the largest expanse of rail lined with water from Portugal, surpassing even the great stretch of river Beira Baixa (along the river Tagus). The line is now closed in the stretch between Pocinho and Barca d'Alva.
Line International Barca d'Alva La Salamanca Fergeneda and connects to the Line of Douro Spanish railway network. The section between La Barca d'Alva and Fuente de San Esteban - Boadilla is closed to traffic.
The construction of the Douro Line was started in 1873, initially proposed section extended from the Port City to the pinion (Vila important Douro Wine Region.
