Standing about 8 feet high, and placed on the sidewalk directly in front of the Deming City Hall.

A faded plaque on the cairn states:

Rock Cairn
A Rock from each of the 50 States
This 1976 Project initiated by Mayor Lloyd Praty
Plaques donated by Charles D. Tackett
Engraving done by Joseph R. Tulk
Rock cut and polished by Gem and Mineral Society.
