A rock or boulder carried from its original source by an act of nature is called an erratic. Rocks of this type are found in Montana and Canada. The granite boulder was deposited near Harrisburg, Oregon about 15,000-12,000 years ago. Geologists say it was carried there embedded in an iceberg during the Missoula Ice Age Floods that swept though the Willamette Valley as far as Eugene, Oregon when the flood waters were constricted at Kalama Narrows.
