The town of Rushford, NY is a farming town and on the west side of town is a sign depicts that. With many farming towns in our area one thing that sets Rushford apart is the Rushford Cornet Band which can be seen in its own Labor Day Parade as well as many other parades in the area and the sign on the east end depicts the Rushford Cornet Band and wagon.
Originally organized by Horatio Palmer ( (

He was also writer of hymns for the Rushford Coronet Band, The Rushford Town Band has been providing musical entertainment for nearly 150 years. Under the able direction of Mr. Benjamin Hooker, the band provides free outdoor concerts each summer during July and August on Saturday evenings at the local bandstand near the Town Hall in downtown Rushford. Children of all ages are delighted to see the antique horse drawn band wagon on which band members ride and play during parades. You will see this bandwagon at several county sponsored events throughout the year. Instrumentalists come from many local communities including Olean, Hornell, West Valley, and Eldred, PA to participate with the Band. New members are always welcome.
